  11. I'm new to Imagine for the Amiga, and I'm using v4.0.  I'm having a 
  12. problem changing the attributes of a group of objects that are supposed 
  13. to be "grouped".

  15. Here's my situation:

  17. I go into the Spline Editor, choose "Load Font" from the Object menu, 
  18. select the PostScript Font I want and type in a word I want to make into 
  19. an object (for example, I type the word AMIGA) and hit return.
  20.  
  21. The font loads, and the letters appear in the Spline Editor screen.  I 
  22. choose "Add Points" from the Object menu to turn it into a 3-D object.  
  23. No problem so far.  I then choose "Save Points" (not "Save Object" as 
  24. this would not work) to save the word (i.e. AMIGA) as a 3-D object.  I go 
  25. to the Detail Editor and load the object, and it appears in the edit 
  26. windows.  The entire word (i.e. AMIGA) is already selected and is shaded 
  27. brown.  I press 'F1' to Pick it, and it now turns purple.  I choose 
  28. Attributes so I can change the colour of the entire word.  I click on the 
  29. Colour button in the Attributes requester so I can change the colour.  I 
  30. choose the colour, then I click on Qick Render to test it out.

  32. This is where the problem arises:  the Quick Render refuses to use the 
  33. colour I selected for the object and simply renders it in white.  If I go 
  34. back and select a texture to add (i.e. Wood) then try the Quick Render 
  35. again, the Wood texture does indeed appear, but white still appears for 
  36. the object's colour (the brown colour defined as part of the wood grain 
  37. appears correctly).  If I click on 'OK' and exit the Attributes requester 
  38. (keeping any changes I made), then go back into the Attributes requester, 
  39. the colour I had selected does show up when I click on the Colour 
  40. button.  It's just that whenever I do a Quick Render (from the requester 
  41. or the menu), the whole word renders in the colour of white instead of 
  42. any colour I choose.

  44. HOWEVER, if I choose 'Pick Objects' from the Mode menu (changing from 
  45. 'Pick Groups'), then select each individual character of the word and 
  46. change the colour, the Quick Render works with those colours I selected.  
  47. After doing all this, I go back into 'Pick Groups' mode again, and when I 
  48. bring up the Attributes requester, the colour that I had originally 
  49. chosen for the whole group of letters (i.e. the whole word AMIGA) is 
  50. still there.

  52. Why can't I seem to change the colour of the grouped letters?  I know 
  53. that I am selecting them correctly, because if I perform a function on 
  54. them such as Move or Rotate, it does indeed operate on them all at once.
